Visual
This is one of my three favourite photographs that I
took for my Architecture portfolio and the areas that appear the most sharpest
are the front of the building saying National Football Museum at the top. There
are highlights and shadows in this photograph as you can see it on the glass the reflection of other buildings and you can guess the time of
the day because you can see the blue skies over the building. The dominant
lines on the photograph is the big square lines on the building and the writing
and the writing on the front of the building that is very dominant in the
photograph as well. There are lines that are repeated on the front of the building such as the squares that are on the building they are all repeated and some of the colours are repeated as well on the front of the building. I do see some geometric shapes as the whole building is a geometric shape but there are no objects that appear 3 dimensional so this will mean that no effect
is created. If I could touch the surface on the photograph you would feel all
the glass on the building with the building being made out of glass and you
would feel the material of the squares going around the building. There has
been no cropping or framing used in this photograph and I did attempt to use
the rule of thirds to this photograph.
Technical
The type of lighting that is in my photograph is
daylight because that was the time of day that the photograph was taken there
is no additional lighting used on the camera I used flash on the camera to help
being out the lighting and bring out the colour on the writing on the wall. The
lens and camera that I used to take my photo was a Cannon 1000D. I attempted to
use depth of field I took the photograph once using the death of field and once
without depth of field and this is the photogrpah I
used without the depth of field setting on as I felt that the photograph would benefit with that setting off although I did experiment with it on. I also haven't used any shutter
speed in my photograph such as any motion blur, panning or over or under
exposed. The ISO speed for this photograph is 100. I haven't
had to add anything else such as contrast to the photo I didn't think I needed
to put this photo into Photoshop because I really liked the photo how it
was.
Contextual
The time of day where this photograph was taken was
around 11:00am and the location the photograph was taken was in the Manchester
City Centre. I Chose to use this location to take this photograph because that
is where the building is located in the Manchester City Centre and also because
I found the building really interesting to look at. The equipment that I used
to take this photograph with was a Cannon 1000D because this is one of the best
cameras around to take High Definition photographs. I chose to do architecture
because Manchester has lots of different buildings to take pictures of such as
the Hilton Hotel building and also the National Football Museum Building. The
Architecture photographers that I looked at to get some inspiration to take
these photographs were Martha Cooper who is a female urban and architecture
photographer and I also looked at some student work on the Manchester
Metropolitan University website at some of there work. I also looked at Mr T
who is a graffiti photographer but has done some architecture work and his work
inspired me the most because they convince people with attractive colours and
purposes. What I really like about this photograph is that the way the building
is shaped such as it arches at the front of the building then drops down.
Connections
The connections that I can make to me previous
knowledge are that the buildings that I have taken pictures of are similar to
the ones students have taken pictures of on the Manchester Metropolitan
University website. The relationships that I can make with other photographers
are that Martha Coopers and Mr Ts work are quite similar to each other and what
inspired me to do architecture the most was all the work done on the Manchester
Metropolitan University website by students who do photography at university
because they are students with similar interests in photography to me and I
found there work very inspiring and that’s why I pursued doing architecture
photography. The views that this photograph gives is that all buildings are
different shapes and sizes and when you look close at then you can see lots of
different patterns on them. What I have learnt from doing architecture photography
is that buildings such as the national football museum look very different in
person to what they look like in real life they look a lot bigger to what they
are on photographs as well. Looking at different photographs has inspired me
into taking these photographs and this has developed my work even further and
when I was taking these photographs I took into consideration all the different
colours and the surroundings. What I have learnt from taking these photographs
is that no building is the same they are all different from each other such as
the patterns, shapes and sizes and all buildings are different to look at.
Visual
This is one of my three favourite photographs that I took for my Architecture portfolio and the areas that appear most sharpest are all of the photograph none of it appears more sharper as it is my favourite photograph I had taken. There are highlights and shadows in this photograph as you can see in the left hand corner there are shadows of the building across the road from it. There are lines that are repeated as you can see with all the windows on the building they are all the same for each separate building on the picture. I do see some geometric shapes on the building by looking at the windows on the building the top square is always smaller than the one on the bottom of the window. If I could touch the surface on the photograph you would feel all the glass and bricks on the building. There has been no cropping or framing used in this photograph and I did attempt to use the rule of thirds to this photograph.

The time and day where this photograph was taken was around 11:00am so late morning and this was in Manchester in the Town Centre. This is because in the Town Centre of Manchester are some of the best buildings in Manchester this is why I choose to go to this location and take Architecture photographs. The equipment that was used when I was out taking this photograph was a Cannon 1000D because this was the best camera to use when taking photographs because you are able to get HD quality photographs when using this camera. Similarly to the Nature photographs and Graffiti photographs I wasn't going to consider doing architecturial photography at first I was looking at doing portrait instead of doing this topic for my final piece for photography and some of the photographers I looked at to get some inspiration when doing architectural Photography and I looked at Martha Cooper who was a female urban and architecture photographer and I also looked at Mr T who is a french urban graffiti photographer and Mr T does some Architecture work as well and his photos inspired me the most of all because they convince with attractive perspectives and interesting colours. What I really like about this photograph is out of all the 4 buildings that are attached together they are all different in some aspects but what I do like is when you look at the windows on the photographs you can see some of the repeated patterns on the windows such as the shapes.

The connections that I can make with my previous knowledge is that they are similar to ones that I have looked at on the internet although before considering doing graffiti I looked at portrait photographs but I decided to change my mind and do Architecture. What I have learnt from taking photos of buildings is that the patterns are all different and every building is different in its own way.

This is one of my three favourite photographs that I took for my Architecture portfolio and the areas that appear most sharpest are all the different signs and symbols that are on the photograph such as the Odeon one and the Print works sign at the top. There are shadows and highlights on the printworks building as it is show with the shadow just below the I love MCR sign to the right. There are dominant lines in this photo with all the restaurant names and the Odeon cinema sign at the top they are the dominant line for the print works. There are lines that are repeated on the windows of the photograph with there being a line splitting the window in the middle. I do see some geometric shapes on the building with the designs of the restaurant names these are geometric shapes. If I could touch the surface on the photograph you would feel all the glass and bricks on the building. There has been no cropping or framing used in this photograph.

When I was doing my research into photographers I looked at doing fashion photography instead of architecture but I then looked at some university work in Manchester on Architecture and this inspired me into doing architecture instead because Manchester is on of the most interesting cities in the world and I felt that It would be better to do Architecture than Fashion. My main inspiration for doing Architecture was looking on Manchester Metropolitan University website at all there photography work I looked at both Fashion and Architecture and thought that Architecture would be the best idea to do for my final piece for photography and this enabled me to explore into Manchester and go and look at buildings that I hadn't taken an interest in such as the the printworks.
